Yo Cutters…

What’s up? Well, it’s definitely been Los Angeles weather because it has been sunny and gorgeous out here along the California Coast. I’ve seen a lot of it lately because I’ve finally gotten back in the water. What does that mean? I’ll tell ya… I was a surf rat from the age of 12 to 22. After my first 22 years, I found myself living in North Jersey, Texas, the west coast of Florida or Atlanta…all of which have no water worth surfing on. For the last 25 years, I have not put my foot on a surfboard, but over the last 25 years, anytime I would pass any beach and see bobbing heads in the water, I would pull over to watch. Well, about a month ago I stopped watching. I called up Dominick Purcell, formerly TV’s John Doe, who has been surfing in Sydney Australia his whole life. I told Dominick I was getting back in the water and asked him to go down to Zuma Jays in Malibu and help me pick out a board. I bought myself a 96 Zuma Jay Longrider. Dominick flipped out as the first wave I took, I popped out and rode the entire beach. Now, these are real waves. It was like riding a bike. What a blast!

If any of you are in L.A., on June 8th, I’ll be doing my first inspirational speech, which is geared for actors, at the Howard Fine Acting Studio. I’ve been working on this for years and this is the first time I will actually put the work up. See, it’s not just a speech, it’s more of a one-man show, but for now, we’ll call it a speech. It’s the same speech I’ll do when I speak to corporations, the armed forces, youth groups, and schools. It will be personalized for each group. For example, tomorrow’s performance will be geared towards the acting community. It’s really an hour-long monologue. Imagine memorizing an hour-long monologue. Sound easy? Yeah right…it’s hard. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. It’s the hard that makes it great. This idea is the theme for my presentation. Basically, it’s all about living your dreams and having the work ethic, the “stick-to-it-tiveness” and the tenacity not to take no for an answer. For those of you I’ve been telling for years I’d be an inspirational speaker… I’m doing it. Remember, it’ll be at Howard Fine’s Acting Studio at 7:00 PM. If you’re not there by 6:30, you probably won’t get a seat.

If you are on the UDC list, we’re thinking about having a contest. People have sent us DDP graphics and Flash stuff they’ve made over the years and we would like to showcase some of them on the site. Keep en eye open for details…

By the way, if you haven’t checked out the streaming video on the site… take a look, it’s killer.

It’s been your pleasure…as well as mine…
