STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

Yo Cutters…

Well, I did my first inspirational speaking gig at Howard Fine’s Acting Studio last Tuesday. Here is how the series of events went down. I was supposed to have the main stage. It holds about 60 people. When my buddy, Marlin, and I got there the studio was occupied. I had to nicely tell the instructor that we needed the space. She accepted that and we started to set up for the show. You see, DDP’s One Man Inspirational Show has everything from video to props to comedy to inspiration. Second problem… no power onstage. So, we ran an extension cord from the back of the studio. Third problem, the stage lights won’t go on. Still not panicking, but starting to breath more shallowly…and now people start to show up one at a time. By quarter to seven (the show starts AT seven) there’s about ten people there. We finally got power on the stage, but there’s still no stage lights. By the way, we have a three camera video shoot going on this… so stage lights really would help. I decide to take a few deep breaths and go get changed into my suit and tie. Yes… I said suit and tie. By ten to seven, people were starting to come in in droves. Miraculously, someone realized the breakers were off… and then there was light.

So, the place is filling to capacity, I’m behind the seating area where the lighting is, standing in my underwear and trying to pull on my pants when two hot looking actresses walk by me. One of them says, “Well, that was motivational.” From there on, things went off without a hitch. The really sweet thing about that is that three different movie producers actually showed up along with my management team… and that’s not a bad thing… that’s a good thing. Because the performance was a tremendous success. It’s all about living your dreams, and my dream is to become one of the best inspirational speakers in the world… while becoming a top shelf character actor. It’s all about working to make your dreams come true.

What else has been happening? I had dinner the other night at a place in Malibu and did a little bit of stargazing as Lou Gossett, Jr. walked out as I was walking in. At the bar alongside me was Tony Danza who was waiting for his dinner partners, John McEnroe and basketball player Chris Mullen. My favorite, and the only guy I almost marked out for, was Capt. Kirk himself, William Shatner with some hot looking brunette. By the way, there wasn’t a bad looking honey in this place. Go figure…we’re in Malibu. The dinner meeting went well, and I will keep you posted if anything actually comes of it.

In closing, yes… The Mailman has been delivered to L.A. What were the odds? DDP and the Mailman would be reunited again. I talked to him the other day and he is… Jazzed.

By the way, don’t miss the new Photo Of The Week.

It’s been your pleasure…as well as mine…
