RichInKC: You know, when someone has a few extra pounds in wrestling, they call him out of shape but in football, they call him a lineman.

Luther: Too true and I was a lineman back in the day.

Ray: Hey, wait a second, I was a lineman. One thing I want to mention, strictly as a shoot, is that when Luther and I are out there I know I can count on Luther being in the match for the long haul. He may get blown up and winded, but I know that when it is time for a gut check I know Luther has what it takes. He is going to do whatever it takes to get the job done and I know he wonít be dragging ass out there. Luther went through the tryouts when they were known for running people off. They have kind of modifies that now, but back in the day, me and some of the guys under contract would grab an early breakfast just so we could make it in time to watch the guys fall out. It was like entertainment hour for us to get to watch it. For Luther to not only make it through the initial tryout as a candidate, but to continue to make it through the monthly proves he is as tough as they come. You see, if you were at the Power Plant training then you had to go through the tryouts again when guys came in just to keep your spot and check your conditioning. He went through it countless times.

As for our characters, they are not too far removed from who we really are. Arn Anderson gave me some great advice when I was beginning to realize that my run as Glacier was going to come to an end. I asked him what I should do about my future in wrestling. Arn told me, ìFind something not too far from who you are. Look at the most famous people in this business and you will find their on-camera personality does not fall that far from who they really are. For example, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Diamond Dallas Page, Buff Bagwell all these guys arenít that different from their character. We had to find something we were comfortable with. I had seven years of good practice with this character in front of high school kids, so I am ten times more confident doing this character than I ever was as Glacier. This character is me and I can turn it off at the drop of a hat. When I am out there, the title may be Buzz Stern, but it is really Ray Lloyd the Coach.

Luther also coached up in the Canadian Football League with one of their all-time greats, Forrest Gregg. Our backgrounds perfectly fit these characters, and since Luther and I have so much common ground it makes it easier for us to get ideas.
