Disco Inferno
April 27, 1997
by RichInKC

RichInKC: So...are you in the market for a new finishing move?

Glen: As a matter of fact I am, I was scouring Japanese wrestling tapes just the other day. I am looking for something as over as the Diamond Cutter, but who isn't? If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

RichInKC: Let's talk more about Glen and less about Disco. Who are some of your friends in the business?

Glen: DDP, Mortis, Bomb, Glacier. I still talk to Brian Christopher. I have gotten along with everyone from WCW, Joe Gomez is a good friend, so is Terry Taylor. The most credit I give for what I have learned about wrestling is from Terry Taylor, Jake Roberts and Bill Eadie (Demolition-Ax). The trips from Atlanta to Mississippi taught me a lot. You can learn a lot in a six-hour car-drive with those guys.

RichInKC: Do I dare ask who in the business you don't like?

Glen: To be perfectly honest, I like everyone in WCW. In the indy scene, I hear there are people who don't like each other, but I haven't met them yet. People seem to step on each other's toes to make it to NY or Atlanta.

RichInKC: Who were some of the wrestlers you watched when you were coming up?

Glen: When I first broke into the business, I loved the Japanese stuff - New Japan and All Japan. After practicing, I realized I couldn't do that stuff. I then got into the mid 80s WWF stuff. If you look today, the guys who were over back then are still over now, even if they haven't changed the way they wrestle. Charisma is what worked for them. I learned so much from Piper, Funk, Flair, Rhodes, Jake Roberts, the Midnight Express, Tully and Arn.

RichInKC: Were you a Hulkamaniac?

Glen: I wasn't a Hulkamanic, but I did like Macho. I didn't particularly like Hogan's matches because they were all pretty much the same. Still, the endings always came through with some dramatic finish like the turning of Andre, the twin referee finish, and stuff. The thing that made Hogan was the stuff between the moves. He was very charismatic and animated. As a fan, I always liked the bad guys, so I liked to see Hogan get beat up. Some people criticize the way Hogan wrestle, but he still proves that sometimes less is more. What people don't realize is that with practice you can pretty much teach anyone to do any move. For example, at over 50, Terry Funk can do a moonsault.

RichInKC: You talk about the drama and the angles, who would you have liked to feud with in WCW?

Glen: With me, I would have wanted to feud with anybody. I feel with my gimmick, I can work into a feud with anybody from Ric Flair to Chavo Guerrero Jr because the gimmick I portrayed was basically a schmuck that doesn't take things seriously. So it would always be easy to turn something funny into something serious.
