An Interview With Johnny The Bull
Smokey:
Besides
Page who were those guys?
Johnny
The Bull:
Johnny Attitude
(Johnny Green) and Disco both talked to me about it. I worked out with
Buff a few times. Chase Tatum was a friend of mine for like 6 years and
he was in camp at the time, so he told me about it?
Smokey:
We've
heard about The Power Plant in the past. Tell us what you thought about
it?
Johnny
The Bull:
First I went
to the three-day tryout. It was the hardest thing I ever did…I mean it…the
hardest thing I ever did. I threw up the last day, busted a rib…Sarge
rode me hard and had on the ground like a dying cockroach. Sarge helped
me a lot and so did Paul Orndorf. Paul is still a big help because I still
go down there whenever I'm home.
Smokey:
Tell us how the Italian angle developed into becoming your gimmick?
Johnny
The Bull:
Well, I always
would hear that I looked like DeNiro and was a big fan of all his movies.
I felt like it was a match before I really made the decision, you know
I started watching the movies and practicing in the mirror more once DD
(Diamond Dallas) and Disco both mentioned they thought it could work.
Smokey:
Johnny one of the biggest criticisms of WCW is that young guy's like you
never get the chance that you have. What do you think of the opportunity
that you have gotten, especially with the recent defections by guys who
felt that there was no where to go in WCW?
Johnny
The Bull:
I know this
doesn't happen to just anyone, I am so grateful for this window of opportunity.
I'm 22 and there are guys that have been in wrestling years and have never
got to the point I am now. I guess that I was in the right place at the
right time but I've worked hard, listened to the direction that I have
been given, I keep my mouth shut and am thankful for everything that has
happened.
Smokey:
How important is it to know the ropes behind the curtain?
Johnny
The Bull:
If you're not
in with the boys…you got trouble. You can't have heat or talk trash in
the back because it gets back. That something that you got to learn quick
and its better to just keep your mouth shut and listen. Especially in
my situation, its not like I have any pull or say in what goes on. I shouldn't…
I'm like a blind person feeling my way around as I go.
