Rob Vam Dam - The Whole F'N Interview
November 10, 1999
by RichInKC

RichInKC: You made a good point when you mentioned the people who trade ECW tapes to keep up with the federation. Probably since the days of Al Snow, the Crippler and the Shooter I have been getting ECW tapes on and off. Most of them I have gotten over the Internet. ECW does have a big Internet presence, as do many of its stars. Do you think the Internet has helped get the promotion more exposure than it may ordinarily have had from just being on television?

RVD: I have no doubt that that is true because I believe that 99% of our fans read the information off the Internet. They surf the Web. They are all on top of the latest rumors. They know who got busted last night, what they got busted with and that is all part of it. My job as a performer is to try to predict what's going to get a pop out of the audience and what's not, mostly through physical action.

The ECW crowd, in particular, is a different crowd. It's a lot rougher. It's a lot harder on the performers. A lot of matches that I see on Monday night would be totally unacceptable in an ECW show and it would get booed out of the arena by the crowd. It's a different style for sure. The Internet is a huge part of ECW.

RichInKC: I understand you have your own web site now. You've had one for a while, haven't you?

RVD: Yeah, I've had http://www.robvandam.com up for a while. It gets progressively better and better, just like my career. As I make more money than I did the year and I have more fans that I had the year before, I'm still going uphill and I still have space to go up that hill.

Although I am the leader of the whole company, like you said, there is still that World Heavyweight strap ahead of me. Everything is looking good and the Whole F'N Web Site; robvandam.com is definitely keeping pace with me. I have a great Staff. Greg Price is my Webmaster and he does a great job.

RichInKC: It is a great looking site.

RVD: Yeah. Thanks. I have very little to do with actually putting the site together. A friend of mine, Joshua Ray in Florida writes the stories and there is a team of the RVD Crew that has put it together. I send stories in and ideas, whatever. I am impressed when I see what they do with it. I am not very smart about computers myself.

When people check out my web site, I have a weekly audio update where they can hear my views on the latest news in wrestling. You can order Rob Van Dam merchandise, keep up with my travels, or just drop a note to me.
